Our approach is experiential in nature

At Cypress Adventures, we provide experiences that inspire and empower participants to create the lives they want for themselves. We do this by providing group experiences that are centered on evidence-based social and emotional skill development. This includes an emphasis on relationship skills, community building, teamwork, problem-solving, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and communication.

Out-of-School Time

Offered during after-school, weekends, school breaks and summer months, our evidence-based social emotional programs help bridge the gap between school and home life for middle and high school aged youth.

Experiential Education

Experience is the only truly universal learning style. We provide experiences that engage participants physically, emotionally and cognitively and facilitate the reflection on those experiences to find meaning.

Community engagement

Through a formal partnership with our local school district, high school aged youth earn school credit for their participation in a Leadership Development elective class.

Countless business partners host our students to share their expertise and to provide career exploration opportunities.

Students participating in our Youth Council engage with the broader community by participating in local community events and hosting their own family friendly events on our five-acre campus.

Outdoor adventure

Hiking, camping and canoeing trips appeal to adolescent need for sensation and risk, build confidence and stimulate creativity while introducing youth to lifelong stress management tools.

Peer mentoring

When afforded opportunities to accept responsibility, young people respond with increased engagement and stronger outcomes. This is why Peer Mentoring is a key component of our Youth Leadership Program.

The daily routine at Cypress fosters a sense of belonging, peer support and authenticity with an opening circle and at least 30 minutes of physical activity every program day. A variety of different approaches to nervous system regulation are introduced in addition to promoting food and nutrition, emotional literacy and healthy relationships.

Health and wellness

Art & Culture

We believe diversity and creativity are key components of wellness and promote self-expression in everything we do. Diversity is key. We are intentionally bringing together young people who are different from one another to learn how to work effectively and safely with people who are different from one another.

Whether it’s in our Art Studio, on the Farm, or through community events, Cypress youth are creating, promoting and participating in Cultural Vitality.

Environmental Responsibility

We believe Nature heals and promote environmental responsibility in our practices and experiences. By engaging youth in the ethical preservation of our 5-acre campus we promote sustainability and land stewardship. In addition to strengthening their connection to nature through the Farm and Outdoor Adventure experiences, we’re also building confidence, competency and care.
