Cypress is Leading

Hartsville native Aimee Cox-King founded Cypress Adventures in 2015 after honing her skills as a positive youth development educator with various respected outdoor prevention and therapeutic programs in Louisiana, New Mexico, Oregon, and North Carolina.

Fostering positive youth development in her hometown is nothing short of a dream come true.

A graduate of Clemson University, Aimee got her start in adolescent leadership education with the Louisiana Office of State Parks Outdoor Outreach Program. From there, she enhanced her skills at the Cornstalk Institute’s afterschool program in Albuquerque. She went on to become a field instructor for Second Nature Cascades Wilderness Therapy in Bend, Oregon.

The inspiring combination of hands-on experiences exposed her to alcohol, tobacco, and drug prevention techniques and taught her how to work with teens living with autism, addiction, suicidal ideation, and other learning and behavioral challenges.

An outdoor adventure enthusiast, Aimee grew her wilderness survival competencies and learned the science behind adolescent cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional development. She became a community organizer with a passion for helping young people turn their thoughts around, manage their emotions, and develop their ultimate purpose.

Transforming the lives of teens is my greatest passion. It’s what I’m called to do, and I’m proud to do it in the community where I grew up. Every adolescent deserves positive, life-changing moments.
