What We Do

Cypress is Motivating

Just like a cypress tree can withstand extraordinary environmental challenges, adolescents can be molded to withstand significant life challenges. After all, being an adolescent is a challenge!

Through a formal partnership with Darlington County Schools, we provide three free 14-week after-school courses designed to teach practical leadership skills, workforce readiness, and civic engagement to middle and high school students for credit. We also offer summer camp experiences and half- and full-day learning opportunities in June and July.

Simply put, we’re an incubator for future leaders and a springboard for developing responsible, competent stewards of our community.

Our Program offerings include

Positive Youth Development

After-School & Summer Programs

Professional Development
for Schools & other Youth Serving Organizations

Teambuilding

for Businesses & other Organizations

Our curriculum is rooted in social and emotional skill-building, emphasizing communication, conflict resolution, and anger/stress management.

“We want to show students that they matter; that they’re assets to our community,” said Aimee Cox-King, Cypress Adventures founder. “We want them to know that we’re here to support their unique needs and to bridge the gap between school-life and home-life.”

Cypress Adventures is a member of the Association for Experiential Education and serves as South Carolina’s representative for the Southeast Region. Cypress Adventures is also an active member of the American Canoe Association.

As we expand our programs and course offerings over the next few years, we plan to introduce other unique learning opportunities such as a High Ropes Challenge Course, indoor/outdoor gardening, cooking, entrepreneurship, and general business skills.

It’s safe to say we’re motivating today’s youth to become tomorrow’s leaders!
